This is an automotive-grade aqueous solution (DEF) made from high-purity urea and deionized water. It is a biodegradable, non-toxic, and corrosive product, and must be stored in plastic or stainless-steel containers.
Automotive urea is injected into the exhaust pipe, where it reacts with heat to break down ammonia and CO₂ gases. When these gases enter the catalyst, they are converted into nitrogen and water vapor, both environmentally friendly byproducts.
Manufacturers are required to test each production batch according to international standards and provide customers with an API certificate to ensure product quality.
Using low-quality products or those without API certification shortens the life of the catalyst and voids the vehicle’s warranty.
